Caring Matters Industries works to reduce food insecurity among low-income and homeless individuals of Colorado Springs. By providing consistent, nutritious, chef-prepared food, we promote health, personal growth, and dignity.
Food Programs
Caring Matters Industries serves free meals twice a week in Colorado Springs. We currently provide food at The Sanctuary Church and across from the Springs Rescue Mission, offering reliable meals and compassionate care to neighbors in need.
Sunday Meals
On Sundays, we serve neighbors living around the Springs Rescue Mission, including people staying in their cars, at 16 East Las Vegas Street, directly across from the Springs Rescue Mission. Our Menu
We offer an expansive, rotating menu of home-style meals to make sure there's something for everyone. Our menu highlights a mix of Southern favorites, Tex-Mex staples, and American Regional comfort foods. This includes foods like chicken and dumplings, fettuccine alfredo, muffulettas, and gumbo. Every Sunday, Chef Logan crafts these hearty, familiar dishes from whatever fresh ingredients and donations come our way, building each plate for balance and satisfaction. Served with respect to unhoused and food-insecure individuals across Colorado Springs
The Process Behind Each Meal
Each week begins with whatever fresh and shelf‑stable ingredients we have on hand. Chef Logan looks through donated produce and shelf‑stable foods first, then draws on his culinary‑school training to match those ingredients to familiar, comforting dishes. From there, he decides what kind of meal they naturally lend themselves to. This lets us honor the generosity of our donors and cut waste, while still creating meals that feel intentional.
Logan then rounds out each plate for nutrition and satisfaction, adding a protein, starch, and veggie where possible. This ensures every guest gets a complete, filling meal that travels well and tastes like home.
We shape the final plate around our per-plate budget while aiming for balance and flavor. Donations cover much of it, but financial support lets us invest more per plate for truly nourishing, satisfying meals.
We always listen to what our current guests are asking for. Their requests guide our menu planning, ensuring we serve the comfort foods they’re craving most that week. If someone mentions missing mom’s biscuits and gravy or enchiladas, that shapes what hits the table next Sunday.”
